WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an Associate, Regulatory Affairs - Product Safety & Toxicology - Global to join the Regulatory Affairs team. The successful candidate will support all elements of the finished product safety process within DECIEM. The associate will primarily be responsible for the identification, summary, and review of toxicity data, calculation of product exposures, collection, and review of product documentation, and developing risk assessments.

This is a hybrid role based 3-days onsite in our Toronto office.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $50,000 to $55,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Complete a thorough assessment of data for individual ingredients to advise on Margin of Safety Calculations for product development
  • Support and understand the calculation of exposure assessments for consumer products to ensure product safety
  • Assess the relevance and impact of systemic and dermal toxicity studies against the DECIEM portfolio of products to guide and inform development and product safety framework
  • Define irritation and sensitization related endpoints to determine the impact of individual substances and formulated finished products
  • Develop strategies for the use of read-across data for novel compounds to standardize product development
  • Responsible for completing safety attestations for product in development prior to their progression into in vivo testing programs
  • Responsible for Product Information File creation at launch
  • Review and interpret post-market surveillance data and inform the business of product trends for safety governance
  • Monitor changing chemical regulations with a focus on the European Union, USA, and Canada
  • Build and maintain justification documents using ingredient data, academic literature, and clinical trials

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field is required (toxicology preferred)
  • 1-2 years of experience in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or food industry
  • 1-2 years of experience in safety and risk assessments
  • 1-2 years of experience in regulatory affairs, with a focus on European Union, USA, and Canadian regulatory schemes for cosmetics and personal care products
  • Extremely strong communication skills
