WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an Microbiology Sample Coordinator to join our Scientific team based out of Fraser Head Office located in Toronto.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $50,000 to $53,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Oversee the intake, logging, storage, and chain-of-custody documentation for all incoming samples to ensure traceability and integrity.
  • Direct the organization of Microbiology Laboratory inventory, including the procurement of media, reagents, cultures, and consumables.
  • Manage the full purchasing lifecycle: generating POs, reconciling invoices with accounting, and restocking materials upon receipt.
  • Administer lab-specific software activities (LIMS, Intelex, and validated trackers) and maintain comprehensive electronic and paper filing systems, including scanning raw data and Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
  • Issue laboratory notebooks in accordance with internal SOPs and perform periodic audits/inventories to ensure full reconciliation.
  • Coordinate the receipt of new lab equipment, ensuring all associated inventory paperwork and chain-of-custody requirements are met.
  • Manage the preparation and outbound shipping of departmental samples, documents, and materials.
  • Maintain professional relationships with external vendors and third-party entities; serve as a primary point of contact for inter-departmental communications.
  • Ahere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), participate in team meetings, and perform essential laboratory housekeeping, including labware cleaning and decontamination of waste.
  • Perform other duties, as requested.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in science, life sciences, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Advanced digital literacy and the ability to troubleshoot and navigate diverse laboratory software, automated inventory systems, and cloud-based communication tools.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations
  • Experience with Microsoft suite, familiarity with LIMS and D365 is an asset
  • Comfortable with budgets and basic accounting is a plus
