WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Transportation team on a contractual basis (ending June 30th, 2026). This position will be based our of our Mississauga Warehouse and requires candidates to be on-site, 5-days a week.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Support the Transportation team by coordinating the global transportation of returns to assigned DC/location and ensure customs brokerage process for return to origin
  • Manage day-to-day operation related to customs clearance and duty inquiries and maintain HS code table in ERP system and audit products for origin and HS verification
  • Generate necessary paperwork for local and international shipping as including Customs Invoices, Packing Slips, Bill of Ladings, etc.
  • Determine, issue and review country of origin/Free Trade eligibility for Deciem products in respective markets
  • Engage with Deciem stakeholders regarding new market launches and the customs/duty impact to Deciem goods for DDP flows
  • Conduct self-assessments and audit monthly duty spend to ensure compliance with local customs authorities (valuation, HS codes, origin, duty rate, tax identification and other trade related accountabilities)
  • Act as a liaison between Deciem and external partners (auditors, customs authorities, brokers, freight forwarders)
  • Create and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to trade compliance activities and provide internal training as needed
  • Audit and payment for global customs brokers invoices and research and provide opportunities for duty recoveries and/or drawback claims
  • Create/manage/file and monitor all customs claims globally and assist Deciem Finance teams with month end audit documentation and/or other requests pertaining to customs and tax

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Relevant education in international trade and/or customs. Post-secondary degree/diploma in business or international trade is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in customs specialist capacity
  • CCS Designation (mandatory), CTCS Designation (preferred), US Customs Broker license (preferred)
  • Proficient with computers and other standard office technology, intermediate level Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, D365 is an asset
