WHAT ON EARTH IS DECIEM?

We are a collective of disrupters and doers, of creatives and scientists, with a mission to reimagine the world of beauty.

Since inception, our vertically integrated structure, including our own laboratories, manufacturing, retail stores, and brand infrastructure, have enabled us to rapidly identify opportunities and deliver quality. Home to The Ordinary, NIOD, AVESTAN, and other emerging brands, our goal is to create with purpose. We were founded on the principle of doing everything that others don’t. Because normal gets you nowhere.

We are DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company.

We are growing rapidly and we’re looking for someone who shares this vision and wants to grow with us!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

DECIEM is advancing its environmental sustainability strategy with a focus on measurable impact, operational accountability, and transparent communication. This role sits at the intersection of sustainability expertise and brand execution.

The Brand & Engagement Manager, Environmental Sustainability will join us on an 18 month contract and will contribute to both the development and interpretation of sustainability initiatives and translate them into culturally relevant, brand-aligned campaigns and content. The role requires equal strength in environmental literacy and marketing execution, ensuring that what we say is as rigorous as how we say it. This is a hybrid role for someone who can move seamlessly between data, systems, and the evolving sustainability landscape, and translate that into consumer-facing storytelling, engagement, and brand building, without diluting either. This is a foundational role for the team, with strong potential to evolve into a permanent position.

This is a three day in office hybrid role, based out of our Liberty Village office.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $85,000-$90,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

Sustainability Strategy, Data & Technical Integration

  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and communication of DECIEM’s sustainability priorities, ensuring alignment with evolving environmental standards and internal capabilities
  • Partner with various internal teams to interpret initiatives (e.g., responsible sourcing, packaging, carbon, certifications) into clear, accurate narratives and actionable insights
  • Support the collection, validation, and organization of sustainability data for certifications, disclosures, and reporting (including ELC requirements), ensuring consistency and credibility
  • Translate complex sustainability topics (e.g., LCA considerations, material trade-offs, certification limitations) into usable frameworks and guidance
  • Monitor and synthesize environmental trends, regulatory developments, and industry shifts, identifying implications for both operations and brand positioning

Brand, Campaigns & Engagement

  • Lead the development of sustainability-driven brand campaigns across digital, social, and internal channels, ensuring alignment with DECIEM’s tone: transparent, science-led, and culturally relevant
  • Partner with the Global Brand team to integrate sustainability meaningfully into campaign strategy, not as an add-on, but as a driver of ideas and engagement
  • Own the creation of campaign narratives, content, and toolkits that translate sustainability work into clear, compelling, and talkable moments
  • Manage sustainability-related website content and digital touchpoints to ensure clarity, accuracy, and accessibility for consumers
  • Identify and activate relevant cultural moments, trends, and formats to drive engagement with sustainability topics in the beauty space

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience spanning both sustainability-related work and brand/marketing execution (not purely one side)
  • Strong understanding of sustainability fundamentals (e.g., materials, sourcing, certifications, environmental trade-offs) with the ability to apply them in a business context
  • Strong personal drive to make a positive environmental impact, with a self-starter mentality, high initiative, and the ability to juggle multiple projects without losing clarity or momentum
  • Proven ability to develop and execute campaigns, content, or engagement strategies across digital and social platforms
  • Ability to translate complex, technical sustainability topics into clear, honest, and engaging communication without oversimplifying or overstating
